The Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame unveiled a new Oklahoma Music Trail Marker honoring Merle Haggard, a legendary singer-songwriter and guitarist, at the Muskogee Civic Center.

The marker was  placed next to a statue of Haggard, in front of the Muskogee Civic Center, where "Okie from Muskogee" was recorded 55 years ago.

Tony Corbell, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame, noted the international appeal of Haggard's music.

Justin O'Neal, Director of the Muskogee Civic Center, expressed excitement about the marker enhancing the visitor experience and supporting local tourism and economic growth through the expansion of the Oklahoma Music Trail.
