Muskogee drivers should prepare for a major change on Highway 69: KJRH reports that reconstruction is scheduled to begin Halloween weekend.

The $44.7 million project will rebuild roughly 2.5 miles between Border Avenue and Okmulgee Avenue, expanding the corridor to six lanes.

What traffic changes are planned?

According to KJRH’s report, ODOT plans to close the roadway during the opening weekend.

Afterward, the work zone is expected to carry one lane in each direction.

Why is the work being done?

The project is intended to improve pavement and increase capacity along the busy corridor.

Before you travel

Allow extra time, check current traffic notices and follow posted detours rather than assuming your usual route is open.

Exact closure hours and detour details are not provided in the linked report.
